Lucas Levitan is a Brazilian multimedia artist based in London. A former Creative Director with Mother and other agencies, Levitan searches for inspiration in everyday life and turns ordinary objects and scenes into intriguing images that sometimes take shape as illustration, sculptures, installations, paintings or video-art.
PHOTO INVASION is Levitan’s latest illustration project where he appropriates photography by others and adds his illustrative touch. Levitan adds humor and a quirkiness intervention to change the narrative and creating new stories.
“Photo Invasion is a cross-over of two of my passions, illustration and photography. I started by illustrating my own pictures but after a while I thought it might be interesting to mix and match partnerships with other friends and photographers. It’s a different way to see photography, and I am always looking for an extra story beyond the one created by the photographer. It has become a game for me, I can spend hours searching for the next one, visiting galleries, collecting images and concepting my next invasion,” said Levitan.
