Follow Terrell Villiers:
Terrell Villiers is a multi-disciplinary visual artist, community organizer, designer, and producer currently based in Brooklyn, New York. Recognized internationally for their cartoon illustrations, where they explore the nuance of identity, through the intersectionality of Black Queerness and Transness.
Villiers conjures up visual narratives of ways to survive while existing Trans and Queer, within black community: A celebration of identity via storytelling. They allow those of their community who have passed to live on through their artwork. Through this, they transport both the viewers and the artist to an alternate world devoid of convention-where one's autonomy over their body. An incredible approach to archiving the narrative and broadening the possibilities for future movements.
Villiers formerly served as the Art Director of MASISI, a Queer Afro-Caribbean collective and platform based in Miami, that uses a range of events and programming to explore the queer histories and lineages of the Afro-Caribbean diaspora.
In their freelance work, Villiers has been featured in a series of different publications, as well as, alongside different brands such as: Apple, HBO Max, Vogue Italia, It’s Nice That!, Cultured Magazine, Kaleidoscope Magazine, The Standard Hotel, Afropunk, Gucci, Nosesso, L’Enchanteur, B4 Sounds Records, and more.
